Responsibility
today.

Solutions for tomorrow.

Sustainability at RÖKONA is more than just a buzzword.
As a manufacturer of technical textiles, we take responsibility for the environment, natural resources, and people. Through modern production technologies, a comprehensive energy and environmental management system, and a commitment to continuous improvement, we design our processes to be resource-efficient and future-oriented.

Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency

The efficient use of energy is a key component of our corporate strategy. By implementing advanced technologies, continuously optimizing our processes, and sourcing renewable electricity, we steadily reduce our environmental footprint.

Today, more than 60% of our electricity consumption is supplied through certified renewable energy sources. In addition, we generate our own solar power through photovoltaic systems at our Tübingen site, utilizing approximately 90% of the energy produced directly within our manufacturing processes.

Resource-Efficient Production

The responsible use of water and raw materials is a matter of course for us.

Through investments in modern dyeing and finishing technologies, we have significantly reduced our specific water consumption in recent years. All production wastewater is carefully monitored and treated through the municipal wastewater treatment system in accordance with applicable regulations.

Furthermore, we continuously optimize the use of chemicals, processing aids, and energy to ensure the most efficient use of resources possible.

Energy Recovery from Waste Heat

For us, sustainability also means making the most of existing energy potential.

Our heat recovery systems capture valuable energy from production processes and return it to productive use.

In 2025 alone, approximately 2,000 MWh of thermal energy were recovered. Part of this energy is fed into the district heating network, contributing to the energy supply of the Tübingen region.

Circular Economy and Waste Reduction

Our goal is to minimize waste, return valuable materials to the production cycle, and use resources as efficiently as possible.

Through the systematic separation and recovery of recyclable materials, we achieve high recycling rates and continuously reduce the proportion of non-recyclable waste.

Material recovery is always prioritized over disposal.

Responsibility for Our Employees

For us, sustainability also includes social responsibility.

Safe working conditions, occupational health and safety, employee development, and a culture of mutual respect are integral parts of our corporate values.

Regular training programs, a structured occupational safety management system, and clearly defined responsibilities help ensure a safe and healthy working environment.

Transparency and Measurable Goals

To continuously improve our sustainability performance, we systematically collect, monitor, and evaluate our environmental and energy data.

For 2025, a Corporate Carbon Footprint of 3,508 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent was determined. At the same time, initiatives such as renewable electricity sourcing, photovoltaic power generation, and waste heat recovery actively contribute to reducing emissions.

Verified Standards

Our integrated management system is regularly audited and certified by independent organizations.

Our Certifications:
ISO 9001 – Quality Management
ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
ISO 50001 – Energy Management
IATF 16949 – Quality Management for the Automotive Industry
